We love freeze dried foods, but that is just a small part of who we are and why we started this adventure called Crunch Time Foods.
David and Jennifer have been married for 28 years. They have three children. Jennifer is an avid cook who loves cooking from scratch and experimenting with delicious food in the kitchen. Experience with cooking for food sensitivities led her to find creative ways to make portable, gluten free snacks for her kids to enjoy on the go.
David enjoys the business side of this venture and is also on hand to keep the freeze drying machinery in tip top shape.
Interestingly, this adventure began years ago with a box of jalapenos. Not wanting them to go to waste, Jennifer decided to dehydrate them and grind them into a powder that she has since used for dozens of delicious and spicy recipes. Later someone gave her 40 pounds of onions. Not wanting those to go to waste she dehydrated those and made delicious onion powder that she uses for many recipes for her family.
Her interest in dehydrating led her and David to consider freeze drying foods because of the longer shelf life.
Crunch Time Foods follows a unique process of preserving fruits, vegetables, meals, and baby food called Freeze Drying. Here, moisture is removed from any food item while retaining its original nutritional value, taste, and texture. This process has a wide variety of benefits, including being a method that results in lightweight food, making it perfect for campers and hikers.
The food items, such as vegetables, meats, fruits, etc., are frozen and then put in a vacuum. This evaporates all the moisture in the food and leaves the food dry and stable. This results in food that is free from any risk of spoilage for up to 25 years. You don't need to refrigerate freeze-dried foods, and this further adds to the convenience.
The color, texture, taste, vitamins, minerals, proteins, and flavor are retained up to 97% in this method. These benefits are not seen in canned or frozen foods. Freeze drying also reduces the weight of the food to a great extent, making its storage and transportation easy. Additionally, freeze-dried food requires very little preparation, making it ideal for busy people or for hikers, as it is a great time-saver, and can be used to make even baby food or smoothies.
